Adriatic EUS & ERCP Workshops

On June 7th and 8th 2018 I attended the annual Adriatic EUS & ERCP Workshop, that I found to be very informative and worthwhile. Our primary goal was to increase the understanding of chronic pancreatitis issues, discuss new methods and possible approaches.

There were many topics covered during the workshop and the presenters did an outstanding job of sharing their expertise.

Local and foreign experts presented their knowledge and because of that the workshop provided an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences with other countries. Through numerous interactions the achievements and limitations of new advanced diagnostic-therapeutic methods were presented, alongside with the contraindications and complications.

The First Session of the day began with my contribution, titled: "EUS diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis – does new imaging methods help?"

Since I am very much involved in all of the advanced techniques and diagnostic-therapeutic methods, I decided to share this knowledge and offer room for constructive debate. We should all strive to implement these important methods into real life practise.

After the coffee break we continued with the lecture, that opened the important question: when to use EUS and when ERCP? Further the speakers asked, what to do when ERCP fails. Are percutaneous biliary interventions really the right choice?

The Third Session of the first day focused on EUS, an update to the Interventional tool and the role of EUS in tumors of ampullary region.

The presented ideas were excellent and I especially appreciated the ability of the speakers to share and communicate their knowledge into something relevant. There were many topics covered during the workshop and all the presenters did their best to highlight the important issues in this field.

To be able to share my insights and vision alongside my colleagues was indeed a great experience.
